Our Natural Extracts

We Know Them:
NaturaNectar™ uses extracts from natural resins to develop its products. After many years of direct involvement in the scientific quest for the discovery and mapping of the chemical composition of a new type of Brazilian Propolis, it is no surprise that it would become our main source for natural ingredients.
  Our Extracts are Propolis Based:
Propolis has been used as a natural remedy for centuries. Greeks, Egyptians and Romans greatly relied on Propolis as an effective remedy for numerous ailments. It is a resinous substance collected by bees from various plants and mixed with secreted beeswax.(*)

A Natural Immune System For you:

The Greek word, Propolis means “Pro” (before) and “Polis” (city), which translates to Defender of the City. The city is the beehive where Propolis plays a vital role in protecting the colony from invasion from the outside world. If invasion happens, bees completely cover the external agent with Propolis to avoid the spread of infection. This results in the inner hive, being one of the most sterile environments known to man. In other words, Propolis provides the bee colony with its immune system. Increasing scientific evidence in the last 50 years continues to identify new, beneficial properties of propolis.

Not All Propolis Are the Same:
Propolis chemical composition and pharmacological activity can vary widely from region to region (**). At NaturaNectar™, we only extract from the 12+ types of Brazilian Propolis which have chemical composition and botanical origin completely different from the Propolis found in North America, New Zealand, Europe and other parts of the world (Alamo Propolis or Brown Propolis).

Brazilian Propolis:
The Brazilian Propolis, used by NaturaNectar™ to produce its extracts, is a non-toxic resinous substance which has been classified into 12 types according to its physicochemical properties.

Most of these types are called Brazilian Green Propolis and found in the southern, southeastern and northeastern regions of Brazil. Differently from the northern hemisphere Brown Propolis whose botanical origin is linked to the poplar and conifer trees, the Brazilian Propolis’ botanical origin is linked to Baccharis dracunculifolia D.C. (Asteraceae), a shrub which grows wild in Brazil. We also have dominance over the production of the Brazilian Red Propolis.
